collin county jury system
One of the duties of the District Clerk is to summon citizens for jury service for the 9 District Courts, 7 County Courts at Law, and 5 J.P. Courts of Collin County. My team researched, analyzed, and chose the "state of the art" jury system that we are currently using for the selection of jurors.
Thanks to the new jury system, a citizen now has choices:
the jury questionnaire can be mailed in as always, or e-juror may be used and the questionnaire can be completed and submitted online.
A juror may also reset the date for their service one time, either on the automated phone line, or on the internet via e-juror.
That's a free reset of your jury service date without having to talk to anyone! Pretty convenient!
We've also recently implemented the call-in system (also available, of course, on e-juror), allowing each juror to check the day before his/her appearance date. If cases have settled and the jurors are not needed, they are instructed not to report for jury service. As a juror, you are saved the wasted time, gas, and drive to the Courthouse (or wherever your summons location), and Collin County is saved the expense of paying jurors that are not needed or utilized.
It's a win/win!
